One step closer
The book project reaches an important milestone
About 15 weeks ago, I announced that I would be taking time off what was an already egregiously inconsistent newsletter schedule to begin writing a book.
I am happy to announce that, within the last 48 hours, I have sent the finished manuscript to my editor. I have begun, and I have ended.
It has been quite the experience. Juggling such an undertaking with a day job and being a present father and husband has taken a lot out of me, and the relief I felt when I put down the last period simply cannot be adequately explained.
In the end, even though I put forward a six-month timeline in the announcement, I actually feel like I took longer than I could have. Anyway, all that matters now is that it is done, although by the time the book is actually published, it is likely that we will hit that six-month mark anyway.
What comes next? Well, my editor tells me that his contribution will be complete by November 22. Once that is done, it will be off to the printers, who will take three weeks to deliver. So, tentatively, the first physical copy of the book will be delivered into my hands on December 13. As that date approaches, more information about the book will surface. I look forward to revealing the title and cover; depending on what my agent advises, I might even give away an excerpt as well.
Thank you all for your patience, and my sincere apologies to those who have been keen to read my thoughts on recent happenings. Remarkably, while I have been away, the subscriber base has actually grown, so welcome to those for whom this will be my first proper communication. I should publish a bit more regularly now, so hopefully everyone gets what they came here for.
